Sampling of sediment is undertaken with dredging equipment or augers and samples tested for a range of nutrients and potential contaminants in accordance with Environment Agency Guidance documents.
Testing will typically include:
- Total nitrogen, potassium, phosphorus, magnesium
- Plant available nitrogen, potassium, phosphorus, magnesium
- Electrical conductivity
- Elemental Sulphur
- Moisture content
For spreading waste directly on land, testing and nutrient balance assessments can be carried out together with the application of a Waste Management Licence Exemption. Plant bioassay research work can be undertaken to determine the beneficial properties of a compost or organic material to be used on land.
We undertake receptor site assessment, sampling and testing to prove agricultural benefit. This involves matching the nutrients in the dredgings, using RB209 (fertiliser recommendations), to the crop system.
We finally undertake a risk assessment and complete the maps and the WMX7 forms.
We undertake receptor site assessment, sampling and testing to prove ecological benefit. For ecological benefit we will assess soil improvement parameters such as stability and structural development.
We finally undertake a risk assessment and complete the maps and the WMX9 forms.
